Trisenox® (Arsenic Trioxide) injection
Trisenox® is a highly effective therapy for first and subsequent
relapse in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Trisenox® is
indicated for induction of remission and consolidation in patients
with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) who are refractory to, or
have relapsed from, retinoid and anthracycline chemotherapy, and
whose APL is characterized by the presence of the t (15;17)
translocation or PML/RAR-alpha gene expression.

Selenase® (Selenium) in Intensive Care Medicine
Critical illness is frequently associated with metabolic dysfunction
or tissue destruction. This leads to an increased formation of free
radicals, which overwhelm the body's antioxidative protection
system and are difficult to eliminate. This leads to deficiency in
selenium. Early intervention with sodium selenite pentahydrate,
the active substance in Selenase®, can compensate for this
deficiency. In addition to this, Selenase® will support the body's
own antioxidative protection system in the degradation of the cell
damaging free radicals and thus enhance the maintenance of the
cellular immune system.

Clinical studies have demonstrated the favorable effects of higher
doses of sodium selenite. Early intervention with Selenase®
reduced mortality of patients with sepsis and acute pancreatitis.
A prospective randomized clinical trial to improve these data
is running.
